our good bud kellen opened a new shop in brooklyn called shark tooth. she is dealing with textiles, amazing rugs and quilts mostly. here's what she told me:
"In the south there are toooonnnssss and tons of old quilts. these objects lit my fire somethin' fierce and I started buying them up and occasionally fixing them on request, and reselling them. the process of mending something so old really allows you to become intimately aware of the thing itself and consequently how it came to be. The rugs and linens and coverlets etc all came afterwards... when the interest became both design and process. On top of all that "talk" a big part of it, the truthful foundation of it all, is that I love to travel and I love to pick. So I've spent the last few years slowly molding my dream job. I have a particular weakness for ceramics, folk art (or kid art), and leather seating. yep. I do. So this textile store... which I do want it to be mainly a resource, is also a 300 sqft leather seating-folk art- found ceramic- etc. store."
shark tooth is at 284 atlantic ave brooklyn. you'll know it by the bail bonds sign i mentioned in the title of this post.
congrats kellen! you're the best! can't wait to hang out there.
please enjoy the time and space.
