"There is a place in Portugal that used to be called o fin do mundo (the end of the world). It was thought that this is where the land ended and the sea began (onde a terra acaba e o mar começa). A one minute hand held video of the ocean was shot at this location and can be downloaded here:

Download the video, burn it to a DVD, put it inside a DVD player inside a store that sells televisions, press play, put it on repeat, and leave it. "

I have some fairly eclectic music on there. I was really enjoying a "divertimenti" written by W.A. Mozart for the piano, titled "12 Variations for Piano on 'Ah, Vou Dirai-Je, Maman' K.265" You might know the tune better as "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, but Mozart took and deconstructed it and reconstructed it in every possible way available to him and it was amazing and beautiful and awe-full (not awful). The next song was equally amzing and I often wonder what Mozart would make of it, it was "Should I Stay or Should I Go Now" by The Clash. I oten wonder what someone what Mozart would make of modern music and how music has changed since the late 1700's. I alos miss Joe Strummer.
I wriote this here, now becuase the end of the land and viewing the ocean makes me introspective and this event today, on my ipod seemed to fit with the idea that Horvitz is trying to get across, that beauty cn come from anywhere. |
